Society Plans for 2010

Our vision for 2010 includes the expansion of our scholarship program, as finances allow; improved communication with all members of the Society, utilizing modern technology; and greater involvement of Society members through the use of sub-committees populated by all Society members, not just members of the Board of Directors.

We welcome your suggestions and input throughout the year.

Background

The John A. and Bonita G. Hopkin Family Society was organized as a non-profit corporation in December 1987 exclusively for charitable, educational, religious and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of financial contributions to other private foundations and public charities. It was important to John and Bonita, and is important to the current officers and Board of Directors, that the pursuits of the Hopkin Family Society be guided by and consistent with the principles of religious belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints particularly as such teachings embrace and direct genealogical research, strengthen family solidarity and promote missionary service.

The objective in forming the Hopkin Family Society was to establish a formal structure whereby members of the extended Hopkin family (and other similarly-inclined parties) could combine their efforts and resources to promote and support activities and organizations that are consistent with the purposes of the Hopkin Family Society. Although the expectation was that the Hopkin Family Society would be primarily supported by members of the extended Hopkin family, anyone who is interested in supporting any of the activities and programs being funded by the Hopkin Family Society is welcome to contribute to the Hopkin Family Society.

Since its inception, the Hopkin Family Society has focused its energy and financial resources in the following areas:

- Missionary Service
- Scholarships
- Humanitarian Aid
- Family History and Genealogy
